BOUNTIFUL — A driver was hospitalized, and I-15 briefly closed after a three-car accident here Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred near 500 South during the afternoon commute when a northbound car traveling at a high rate of speed ran into another car, which then veered to the right side of the freeway, clipping a light pole, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The first car then clipped another vehicle. That crash disabled both vehicles. Traffic was slowed and northbound I-15 was close for a short time.

The female driver of the first car was taken to the hospital for treatment. Her name and condition were not available.

Drivers of the other two cars were treated at the scene.
