BOUNTIFUL — At least eight times during the summer, biologists get imported catfish farmed from Arkansas in order to populate the various ponds in Utah. One such biologist, who works for the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), recently installed catfish “nesting cavities” at the Bountiful Pond in order to promote reproduction through natural means as part of DWR’s Community Fisheries program. “(The catfish) have everything they need here except for one main component,” said Chris Penne, a fisheries biologist for DWR. “We are providing that component to them in order to promote reproduc...
