On the move - Boutique: unique name, local flavor

WEST BOUNTIFUL — The BTK Boutique opened its doors in West Bountiful not too long ago, but don’t let the initials fool you.

“BTK” is the first name of each of the three Bown family members, which is run mostly by Tristina Bown.

Bill, one of the co-owners, started a company called “Utah Building Stone” supply which later became Bonneville Quarries, a well-known business to Davis County residents according to Tristina, Bill’s wife and co-owner. Their son Kody served a mission in Argentina during that time.

Upon his return, the family started another company called Grandview Rockery. Kody was left to run the store.

Tristina, however, grew weary of the job (and the smell) associated with running an entire business and decided it was time to start one that she could run that had potential in Davis County.

“It had been my dream to start a boutique shop,” said Tristina Bown. “I thought I could bring in some genuine arts and crafts to the areas of Woods Cross, Bountiful, and West Bountiful.”

Their location on 959 West 500 South was put together by Tristina and some of her other relatives that came from Seattle.

“My sister-in-law and my mother came to help me,” she said. “We’ve done the walls, the floors, painted, everything. We spent a lot of time and effort putting this store together and it looks great.”

And so far, the store has received great response. According to Tristina Bown, the store has plenty of arts and crafts pieces on display from several local residents from around the area.

“We’ve had a great response so far,” said Bown. “I’m meeting so many new people here and it’s just a great area to be in.”
