WX Junior Chattelles

Calling all young ladies to be part of the Junior Chattelles!

The dates are September 28-30 from 4-6 p.m. The cost is $20 per child, $15 for addition children attending.

The costs includes a T-shirt and all participants will perform at the Sept. 30 home game against Stansbury High.

Families will receive free admission to that game.

Softball tryouts

Utah Avalanche 14U Fastpitch Competition Team is looking for versatile softball players. Birthdays in 1996 and 1997. Date: TBD.

Junior Jazz

Sign ups are ongoing for the second session of Jr. Jazz basketball.

South Davis Recreation Jr. Jazz is the second largest youth basketball program in the state. Currently there are more than 2,500 participants that come from the five cities served: Bountiful, West Bountiful, Centerville, North Salt Lake and Woods Cross.

With registration participants will receive a reversible jersey, Utah Jazz game ticket, and Utah Jazz player appearance.

Costs are as follows:

1st-2nd Grade: Member $30 non-member $35 (instructional league only)

3rd-6th Grade: Member $45 non-member $50

7th-12th Grade: Member $55 non-member $60

(9th-12th grades must register as a team with a coach 21 years or older)

Competitive League (5th-9th grade only): $400 per team (competitive league has graduated rules and competitive levels by age. Available to the first eight teams that sign up. Must sign up as a team)

Jammin’ Shorts (Optional): $8.

Late registration: $10/player (late registration will only be taken for one week after deadline).

Clearfield Jr. Jazz

Farmington City is currently accepting applications for people interested in working in the youth football, soccer and tennis programs.

Applications can be filled out at the Farmington City building, 130 Main Street, Farmington during business hours.

In addition, volunteers are always needed to keep programs running.

Youth in grades first through 12th can be part of the Jr. Jazz Youth Basketball Program, an extension of the Utah Jazz organization, being offered by Clearfield City Recreation. Registration for Jr. Jazz in Clearfield begins Oct. 1 through Oct. 30.

Those interested in participating may register online at www.reconline.org, in person at the Clearfield Community Services Department, located at 55 South State, or by phone at (801)525-2790.

Grades first and second will be coed leagues. Boys, grades fourth – eighth, and girls, grades fifth – ninth will be draft leagues. Players in 9th-12th grades may sign up as a team or individually and are required to have a non-playing coach over the age of 18.

Third grade girls and fourth grade boys and all older leagues begin the week of Nov. 30, while the younger leagues (1st/2nd grades and 3rd grade boys) will begin the week of Jan. 4, 2010.

Game and practice days will vary depending on the grade and will be played at the Clearfield Aquatic Center, located at 825 So. State Street, and at local schools.

The cost is $50 for a resident and $60 for a non-resident. There is a $5 late registration fee after Oct. 30. There is also a $3 special request fee for a coach or another player (non-draft league only).

Ute Football

Football games for the Ute Conference youth football league are under way Teams representing the areas covering Woods Cross, Bountiful and Viewmont boundaries will play teams from all over Salt Lake and in some cases the Park City and Tooele areas.

Conference representatives are asking that parents check with their child’s coaches for details about where and when each game will take place.

Farmington Parks and

Rec info

The Farmington Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of recreational sporting activities, competitive sporting activities, cultural activities, special events and arts.

The department is also responsible for the upkeep of city parks and for the reservation of various facilities throughout the city including various park boweries, the Community Arts Building, and the Swimming Pool.

The Parks and Recreation office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is located at 720 West 100 North (Located on the west side of I-15 just north of the Davis County Jail. The office shares a building with Public Works)

Hockey signups

Davis County Youth Hockey Association (DCYHA) will hold registration for the 2009-2010 Fall/Winter hockey season Thursday, Sept. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the South Davis Recreation Center (550 North 200 West) in Bountiful. Registration and a hockey gear swap will be held in meeting room B upstairs.

DCYHA has House/Recreation teams in four age divisions: Mite (8 and under); Squirt (10 and under); PeeWee (12 and under) and Bantam (14 and under). Age classification depends on birth year. DCYHA also has Travel Select teams in the Squirt, PeeWee, Bantam and Midget (16 and under) age groups. Youth hockey season begins in October and runs through the end of February.

All players must first register online with USA Hockey (www.usahockey.com). Parents/players should then bring printed proof of registration through USA Hockey to DCYHA's in-person registration on Sept. 17. For beginning players, DCYHA will hold an introductory “Quick Start” hockey program at the SDRC this fall to prepare new players for the Fall/Winter league. Quick Start will begin the end of September and run through the end of October.

All practices for House/Rec teams are held at the SDRC. DCYHA plays teams from Salt Lake, Ogden, Logan, Provo, Park City and Vernal.

Soccer referees needed

Utah Rush/South Davis Soccer is offering training for Soccer Referees.

Recreation Referee (USSF Grade 9)

A USSF Grade 9 referee may center referee recreation games (U-14 and younger) and serve as an assistant referee for competition games (U-14 and younger). The course is free to the public. If you choose to take the test and register as a referee there is a fee.
